Most couples complete their official marriage in their home country. They then host a symbolic ceremony in Costa Rica.

If you want to marry legally in Costa Rica, you’ll need to submit translated birth certificates, apostilles, and other documents to the Civil Registry about 4–6 weeks before your date.

Many planners can coordinate this for you. Otherwise, treat Costa Rica as your beautiful backdrop and exchange vows that aren’t legally binding but 100% romantic.

Opt for light, breathable fabrics: linens, chiffon, tropical silks or blends. Soft pastels, ivory, or even pops of coral and teal look stunning against jungle and ocean.

Grooms often choose unlined linen suits or guayaberas.

Don’t forget comfortable sandals or espadrilles.

Dry season (December–April) offers the most reliable sunshine, ideal for beach and mountain venues alike.

Shoulder months (May and November) deliver fewer crowds, lush scenery, and occasional afternoon showers that clear into rainbows.

For the sunniest guarantee, aim for January–March.

Send “Save the Dates” 9–12 months out so guests can book flights early.

Reserve a room block at one or two hotels or resorts for group rates and airport shuttles.

Provide a mini-itinerary with ideas such as waterfall hikes, coffee tours, sunset sails.

Welcome baskets with local snacks or little gifts add a special touch.

If you’re planning from abroad or don’t speak Spanish, a full-service planner can manage permits, contracts, rentals, timelines, and on-the-day coordination.

For smaller gatherings, a “day-of” coordinator plus vetted vendor referrals often suffices.

Most venues and top photographers book 9–18 months in advance, so start reaching out as early as possible.

Fashion Break!

Chic looks. Coastal light. Whether you’re the bride, part of the party, or a well-dressed guest, Costa Rica calls for fashion that’s elevated, effortless, and made to move.
